What version of jBPM are you using? If you refer to 4.3 it is most likely fixed in 4.4 version. You could try it as a current snapshot, here you can find some more details where to get the 4.4 version as distro:  http://community.jboss.org/thread/153283 http://community.jboss.org/thread/153283
