If new to everything I would focus on JBoss 5 or 4 for which there is easier to come by documentation and tooling support.

JBoss 6 is still doing M builds so it can be a bumpy ride which for some are fun, but for others disturbing especially if learning something new.

So all depends on what you want to do...
