I had a similar problem, and it turns out that I had a problematic JBoss Tools version in Eclipse 3.7. I have posted a solution on my blog  http://omnisack.blogspot.com/2011/08/eclipse-37-jboss-as-7-server-runtime.html http://omnisack.blogspot.com/2011/08/eclipse-37-jboss-as-7-server-runtime.html
