No idea ATM :-(
What about if you set the parameter equal to the working one? Is it possible?
Do you see WARN before the ERROR?
Could you check both pool's within the jmx-console?

Maybe setting
org.jboss.resource.connectionmanager
or
org.jboss.resource
will give hints.
