if you would like to make use of catching events in bpmn2 you need to operate on the same lvel if thrown them - throw events from the process and not technical exception from script task. Have a look at  https://github.com/droolsjbpm/jbpm/blob/master/jbpm-bpmn2/src/test/resources/BPMN2-ErrorBoundaryEventOnTask.bpmn2 this process for an example.
