Your distribution probably contains an older version of JBoss Tools.
You can check this by openning the Host OSGi Console view:
- Window>Show View>Other...>General>Console
- click the Open Console view action
- select Host OSGi Console
- enter ss project.examples
The following should appear: 

org.jboss.tools.project.examples_1.4.0.Beta1-XXX

Try to update JBoss Tools using the  http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/development/juno/ http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/development/juno/ update site.
