They co-exist - you need something that activates the resource adapter. You can use  http://docs.jboss.org/ironjacamar/userguide/1.1/en-US/html/codegenerator.html http://docs.jboss.org/ironjacamar/userguide/1.1/en-US/html/codegenerator.html from the latest Beta release to get started.
