Max,

You have summed up things perfectly. We would need to fork and maintain ourselves. We would also need to resolve how to bundle the core search functionality, which is currently in binary format only. If we need to have that open sourced that to make this work, I can investigate the feasibility of making that happen. 

I suspect there may be some SAP specific code in the plugin, but the SAP SR is UDDI v3 compliant, so I believe this could be used against other servers. At a minimum, we would likely have to muck with the authentication a bit to support generic UDDI servers in addition to SAP.
