EAP installer is only tested and supported with Gnome on RHEL 4 and 5. Otherwise we have the same problems and we are creating a main menu item, not category shortcuts.

Additional issues in KDE you might want to know about are:
1. If you use KDE with some locales (chinese and japanese are known) with java6 the installer may crash or some strings may not be translated.
2. If you use KDE with english locale in another language you will see garbage characters for some languages (any JVM).

These issues were spotted by the i18n team while translating and we haven't found good solutions yet although the crashes were eliminated when we forced the installer to use english locale no matter what.
