Um... ... ok... in fact, why would you ever try to make an EAR out of a JSF Kickstart Project? 

A JSF Kickstart Project is really a dynamic web project. It doesn't even have the EAR facet installed. 
In fact, the generated EAR is 100% empty. 

This is by all stretch of the imagination a user error.
