Based on what Sergey told me on conf call today:

This is caused by eclipse trying to start its internal browser to show the content assist help.

This will only be an issue on Linux when an internal browser is available.

This is not a problem on windows because windows/java can load multiple browser implementations, linux/java can't.

Workaround is to disable internal browser by default
