But nothing in the ui tells me why this combobox is relevant from a users perspective.

"Automatically detect" means to me "don't worry we will automatically detect it - no further configuration needed".

What you are telling me is that the users need to take a decision which of those many (and for some unrelated, e.g. what does JNDI port have to do with Web port) settings it should "automatically" detect from....
