I have configured an Eclipse update site with Basic HTTP authentication on the Apache server.
If a feature is set correctly, updating works smoothly. Eclipse shows the username/password dialog and updates the feature without any problem.
I suppose that JBoss updating fails because features aren't configured correctly (see http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBIDE-1499#action_12393316 ).
