This issue doesn't happen on Windows because intro page uses Internet Explorer, not Mozilla browser.
Since intro page is called within IDEWorkbenchWindowAdvisor (before earlyStartup), it isn't possible to do anything within Eclipse except setting org.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath VM argument or setting the org.eclipse.ui.workbench/showIntro property to false.
JBoss Developer Studio can create its own product and initialize XULRunner before calling openIntro.
The ATF project works the same way.
