Since QA seldom has a debugger attached to the IDE while testing then the simpler thing to do is to have a project archive defined that is not small, e.g. contain a high number of files and with some large ones  too (several MB).

Then do the above described things and verify that all the project archive operations are done in a background job (you can open the Job Monitor to see which tasks are running).

If one of the operations causes the IDE to freeze and the status is saying something about Project archives or similar then we have a foreground task we need to have converted to a background job.
