Rob Stryker commented on JBIDE-2129:
------------------------------------

The question I have here, max, is what exactly you mean.

Do you mean the user should be able to MODIFY the ports in ways that the server picks up? Or do you mean solely that the tooling should check different ports than what we think the server is using?

I'm afraid that if I put a ports section in the server editor, users will get confused and think that they can modify ports the SERVER is using *there*, rather than what it seems you're intending, making the tools check different ports than what we think the server is telling us.

> It is all cool that we have the xpath mechanism to detect the default ports, but some users might change this in ways we can't account for upfront.
> I suggest that we get a specific field for those port numbers we use that the user can *optionally* fill in to override any automatic setup.
> These fields should be empty by default and AS would just use whatever we use now.
