We did it before but in a diffrent way (It was a pretty nearly to the way you've suggested, but different)

No matter how you slice it... Making the filltering in your way (or returning to one of some old code) will require a lot of things to be changed in CA proposals preparation and insertion calculation that may result in many problems to be solved.

Once ago we dropped the old style of jsf-prompting because of too many bugs and usabylity problems. And we moved to a Java-like proposal insertion. (It never changes more than one java-word before the cursor position while it is inserting the proposal selected. In case of JSF/Seam EL - it is not possible - often we need to "rewind" much more that just a word and this results in additional problems)
