    Resolution: Rejected

It is a peculiarity of implementation. When user types value into input field, it is immediately committed to model and validated. Since value 'y' is not allowed, the commit is rejected and dialog appears prompting user to input a correct value. Dialog has standard error reporting implementation in message area. 

You can add to jira RFC about implementing a message area in editor input form for reporting validation errors. Though, that would involve some heavy refactoring, and since you estimate this issue as 'minor', then do we really need it?
