The MainPreferencePage extension point (Jboss Tools preference page) is used in the o.j.t.esb.project.ui and common.ui plugin. The o.j.t.esb.project.ui plugin already depends on common.ui.
If we want to break the dependency on the common.ui plugin, we can copy this ext. point to the o.j.t.esb.project.ui plugin
(two categories with the same ID won't be duplicated in the UI). It is also possible to move the JBoss ESB Runtimes preference page to the root page (i.e. remove the category for the JBoss ESB Runtimes pref. page)

The "JBoss Tools" view category is used only in the org.jboss.ide.eclipse.archives.ui plugin so that we can move (or copy) this category to the o.j.i.e.archives.ui plugin. The o.j.i.e.archives.ui plugin doesn't depend either on the common.ui plugin or org.jboss.ide.eclipse.ui.

The remaining plugins don't use these ext. points.
For instance, the Hibernate feature contains the HQL Editor preference page, but doesn't use a category. This feature has its own view category - Hibernate.
