I have tested hot deployment described on http://docs.jboss.org/seam/2.2.0.GA/reference/en-US/html/gettingstarted.html#gettingstarted-hotdeployment
Hot deployment of any facelet page (*.xhtml) works correctly.
Hot deployment of Java components doesn't work on JBoss AS 5.1, JBoss EAP 5.0 (included into JBDS-2.1.0.GA-200907291234-H123). 
I have tested it in the following way:
- created a Seam War project
- created the ping action
- deployed the application and run ping.xhtml
- changed ping.xhtml - hot deployment worked
- changed the ping method in Ping.java - hot deployment didn't work

Hot deployment of Java components works on JBoss 4.2.3.

I haven't reported the issue on AS/Seam, but will post a message to the seam dev list. Not sure if the problem is related to AS or Seam.
I have tested the issue using Seam 2.2.0.CR1, Seam 2.2.0.EAP5 and Seam 2.2.0.GA.
