That's not related to hsqldb.jar only, as I remember JDBC driver must be copied to JBoss AS lib folder under selected configuration to be available in application. It looks like test was done on old workspace left from previous installation. It had connection profile witch points to JBDC hsql driver jar in default\lib\hsqldb.jar, but jboss EAP 5.0 has it in ${server-root}/common/lib folder
