you do know why it is being asked, right ? 

It's because JBoss AS 5.0 and possibly also 5.1 which also is the basis for EAP 5 has this very annoying bug that if it sees something non-xml in manifest.mf files it pukes/starts redeploying constantly.

So this would actually be something unique for the servers but I agree its a hack - we should try fix it in the runtimes before adding this as a hack for the tools.
