When creating the DefaultDS connection profile, JBDS uses the "org.eclipse.datatools.enablement.hsqldb.1_8.driver" driver template and the "org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.db.generic.connectionProfile" profile id that aren't compatible.
The fix is to use "org.eclipse.datatools.enablement.hsqldb.connectionProfile" profile ID and will be available when starting JBDS in a new workspace.
