There are too many assumptions in the VPE code that the visual selection is single. We use visual selected node to do actions like toggle, drag, drop, set selection and show resizer. Thus, to implement multiple selection, a lot of code needs to be changed. I will leave this issue for the time after 3.1.0 release.
