>Because that method was the same as cfg2HbmTool.getClassName() - it always returned className - not a ProxyName - so proxy name could not be exported. 

1) It does not always return classname - you can actually specify a proxy (this is old school Hibernate ;)
2) and having classname == proxyname means you want a default generated proxy - so this can happen and is supported but it is also the default behavior hence why we check for it.
3) removing methods from cfg2hbm and cfg2java is not something we can do since extenders of hibernate tools can rely on these.
