I too like the style of the claws - it has that "tough" and metallic look over it, making it the coolest/cleanest of the possible icons BUT it has a couple of big issues:

1) It is closing on a red ball that resembles JBDS logo which gives associations to the opposite of how JBDS and JBoss Tools relate

2) The claws doesn't give (atleast not me) associations to a set of tools - in the worst case it gives me more a creepy feeling on what that thing is ;)
