No, nothing new, sorry. Pretty much all linux installers are stuck using the aggregated menus method or create their own top-level folder. Most just install one single shortcut that is easily categorised without uninstall option (although there is uninstaller somewhere). You could look into that as well.

BTW, there is a new team for installers in RH, I will see if they have any developers.
