The attached xml is opened as in picture 'recognized action. So, it has specific form for smooks action and selector for smooks config. Please check version of JBDS you use. 
If the path is relative to esbcontent, and smooks-res.xml is located in META-INF folder, then in picture it should be /META-INF/smooks-res.xml. However, if /smooks-res.xml is correct then we need to make more clear the logic.
