I do like where your headed as far as what the tool should be doing for the user.  I'm am very much in agreement with you.

However, this: "SOAP Proxy | jboss.esb:deployment=soap.esb" is not necessary, since that dependency is already definied here:
http://anonsvn.jboss.org/repos/labs/labs/jbossesb/trunk/product/install/conf/actionArtifactMap.properties

Last, I would still like to get a copy of the myESB.esb archive that caused the hang as originally described.  :)
