I now worked a few days with this solution in place and I saw that checking the existence of images does not provide the desired result properly:

- use case: you have a cloud connection to a valid cloud, but you didn't load its images yet (your cloud is not selected in the cloud view, nor you unfolded its images in the cloud view): "Launch instance" is not available unless you load its images (by unfolding them in the cloud view or selecting this cloud in the combo in the images view)
