I also get such log messages, but the CustomerResourceTest unit test works fine.
There are some more issues with this sample (servlet-api.jar isn't excluded from the deployment, for instance). 

I copied the sample from the RESTEasy 1.0.2 distribution, adapted it to work with JBoss Tools and tested it.
