Darryl Miles commented on JBIDE-2720:
-------------------------------------

Just to chime in here.

The current mozilla-central tree builds for Win64/AMD64 as there is a Firefox nightly http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/ put up for it.

However... there is no official release of MozillaBuildSetup.exe which supports Windows 7 SDK (7.1) and also 64bit windows builds (since there are still some important issued to be addresses) . The current Windows Platform SDK version that Win64/AMD64 auto-builds have moved to is 7.1 ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=35aeda01-421d-4ba5-b44b-543dc8c33a20&displaylang=en ), maybe you can build your interrim build system directly from the MozillaBuild project at http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-build/

It is penciled in that Firefox and the Mozilla suite will get 1st class Windows 64bit support at the release of FF3 which is penciled in for another 4 months.

On another matter, I am actually trying to seek who/how the Java XPCOM part of XULRUNNER is being maintained, as it seems to be that Javier Pedemonte has not actively worked on it in over 2 years (based on commits, bugs, newsgroup and mailing-list activities). It would be good for mozilla.org to be redistributing a new version of Eclipse plugins for every release version of Xulrunner. The changes being made to the Mozilla suite for FF3 (which I think is due to be 1.9.3 or maybe 2.0).

The current version of Xulrunner is 1.9.2.6 this is major iteration behind what Java is currently using.

So the question is how much effort do you (Jboss community) want to put into getting a 1st class citizen for Java 64bit builds ? Might it be better to wait, help or push for some of the above matters to resolution ?

I think it maybe more beneficial for Jboss community to build up Xulrunner 1.9.2.6 for all the current platforms in lieu of making a jump to 1.9.3.x in around 6 months and then rebasing all future tooling on that.

> If you use a 64 bit jdk, the XULRunner parts of JBoss Tools does not load.
> We should look into providing a xulrunner for windows 64 bit.
