Tom, as you said "a scrollable column on the left (for source) and a scrollable column on the right (for target), separated by a thin region in the middle that is just part of the general background canvas on which the two scrollable regions sit" , I think it looks like the old smooks editor , right ?
If so , I can't agree with you , because the old smooks design style was failed proved by history.
