how to reproduce:

1) select an image in the cloud viewer
2) select 'launch instance' in the context menu
3) hit finish in the wizard that pops up

Result:
image (selected in step 1) is not select any more in the cloud viewer

Expected result:
image (selected in step1) is still selected.
