John Doyle commented on JBIDE-6628:
-----------------------------------

Some back and forth that happened over email:

jdoyle - A comment on 6628 - I think this JIRA is diametrically opposed to the direction that we have been told to go in. My understanding is that we want the user to point to their dependency jars, rather than build them in. If we are going to do this then we need to go the full route of adding the user a choice in the UI.

bfitzpat - Couple of things on 6628 - why is this diametrically opposed? Why not build in a way to allow the user to create a driver definition based on a defined runtime? This would simply be a convenience method for the user to get them started more quickly using Teiid functionality in the UI. That said, if you don't think it's a good idea - close it as rejected. You guys are the ones supporting the functionality, it was merely a suggestion. :)

> For the Teiid driver... Is it possible to wrap the driver jar in a plug-in and automatically set it up? Or set up multiple versions (7.0, 7.1, etc.)? Though it's server-dependent, we should be able to control that enough to simplify life for the user and auto-configure a driver instance.
