I thought that Riftsaw was backwards compatible and is now able to accept both bpel-deploy.xml and deploy.xml...
As far as the tooling is concerned, the deployment editor should be able to open existing "bpel-deploy.xml" but the New File Wizard should only create new deployment descriptors as "deploy.xml" and "Save As" should be disabled in the editor (which it already is as I just discovered :)
