After starting up Eclipse 3.6 Cocoa, you can see in the Eclipse Installation Details that it uses jdk 1.5.
When you try to install JBT from the archive (jbosstools-3.2.0.M2.aggregate-Update-2010-09-08_17-17-54-H243.zip) it fails on dependencies:

Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
  Software being installed: Teiid Designer 7.1.0.v20100908-0338-H236-M2 (org.teiid.designer.feature.feature.group 7.1.0.v20100908-0338-H236-M2)
  Missing requirement: UML2 Metamodel Plug-in 7.1.0.v20100908-0338-H236-M2 (org.teiid.designer.metamodels.uml2 7.1.0.v20100908-0338-H236-M2) requires 'bundle org.eclipse.uml2.uml.edit 0.0.0' but it could not be found
  Cannot satisfy dependency:
    From: Teiid Designer 7.1.0.v20100908-0338-H236-M2 (org.teiid.designer.feature.feature.group 7.1.0.v20100908-0338-H236-M2)
    To: org.teiid.designer.modelgenerator.uml2 [7.1.0.v20100908-0338-H236-M2]
  Cannot satisfy dependency:
    From: Designer UTL2 Generator Plug-in 7.1.0.v20100908-0338-H236-M2 (org.teiid.designer.modelgenerator.uml2 7.1.0.v20100908-0338-H236-M2)
    To: bundle org.teiid.designer.metamodels.uml2 0.0.0

I don't know what this means exactly, but anyway JBT requires jdk 1.6, so I guess that's that.
