I tracked things down and I am sure that the client behaves completely correctly. This bug is due to ab bug in try.steamcannon.org/deltacloud. It does not occur if you run the tools against a local deltacloud server that is backed by ec2. Furthermore try.steamcannon.org/deltacloud stops responding if you delete a key in the WebUI.
