Ran into a problem with the way I implemented the fix. I used a static initializer block and that code seems to be loaded at different times when running in my IDE and when running in JBDS. I reimplented the fix to get rid of the static block. Tested using JBDS 4.0.0 H137 CR1 with the Teiid Designer update 7.1.0.v20110127-0325-H85-CR1. Checked into both 7.1 (CR2) and trunk.
