It's recognized as EAP in the way similar to EPP, SOA-P.
JBoss AS within EWP is placed in the jboss-as-web directory that was ignored by the AS runtime detector. 
If there is the jboss-as-web/bin/run.jar file in a directory, the runtime engine assumes that the directory contains EWP
As to EAP, SOA-P and EPP, JBoss AS is placed in the jboss-as directory. The runtime engine checks if there is the jboss-as/bin/run.jar file.
