Here is an example how VPE renders a page with messages from a {{properties}}-file and a bean together.

Now it is rendered as
{noformat}Hello #{user.name}!{noformat}


But you propose to render it as
{noformat}Hello !{noformat} 
or
{noformat}#{msgs.greeting} #{user.name}!{noformat} 

Both cases are worse, IMO.
