Unfortunately this code is upstream, and the upstream GlobalDeleteAction is very restrictive on the use-cases it handles. I suggest you go to https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=345087 and vote on the bug. 

Also feel free to review / test the patch, and alert Angel Vera that you have tested the patch and it works for all use-cases. This would greatly assist.
