Agree.
However, such a progress monitor can't be set to the background. If a user downloads a lot of plugins, a big project example, a JBT runtime, he has to wait for this action to finish (or cancel it). The user won't be able to work anything else until this action is finished. Some project examples are >30 MB, JBoss runtimes >100 MB...
