Len, it's not about the OS as much as the JDKs available - on Leopard, there is 64bit Java 1.6 and 32bit Java 1.5, but no 32bit Java 1.6. The result is that whenever you run a 32bit binary it uses Java 1.5 which is the main problem. As far as I remember the installation goes fine, but when you start JBDS afterwards it uses Java 1.5 (because it is 32bit) and so most of the tools don't work since they require Java 1.6.

But as I said, we don't have to worry about Leopard going forward. What remains to be an issue is the fact that you're allowed to install any kind of binaries on any kind of platform and you don't get any warning even if you install linux installer on mac or mac installer on windows etc.
