a,b: For Central wizards i'm thinking we should bundle a "fallback" version of the projectexamples/central control files that will be used (and updated) if it cannot reach the servers.

g: define more attractive? these are cached if they have been fetched at least once.
{quote}

The project examples/news control files are already cached. The cache is used when a url isn't reachable.
The problem only exists when news/blogs url isn't a valid xml or doesn't contain any entry.
I'm planning to add the following:

When JBoss Central downloads a news/blogs url containing entries, that xml file will be separatelly cached.
If a news/blogs url isn't a valid xml or doesn't contain any entry, we would use the latest valid xml file. This way, if the user gets some entries in the blogs/news section, he won't ever get the "No entries found" message in that section.

f: yes, we should cache these.

Will add it.

I will also create all the archetypes and quickstarts and try to recreate them offline.

> Many end-users of JBoss Tools wish to work "offline", something as simple as working on a plane trip without a wifi connection. If the end-user has diligently cached all of his maven dependencies then he should be able to work without a network connection.
> Use case scenarios include:
> a- JBoss Central archetypes
> b- JBoss Perspective File-New project options (matching the key archetypes)
> c- jboss-as-plugin for command-line deployment of a project to the running AS instance
> d- Deployment via WTP to localhost AS/EAP instance
> e- Maven clean, compile, package
> f- community & enterprise quickstarts are provided as a .zip, therefore the end-user could have them pre-downloaded and that list could look to local disk prior to the Internet
> g- JBoss Central News & Blogs could have a more attractive solution to being offline (screenshot provided)
> h- Archetypes that use CDN hosted libraries (e.g. HTML5 & jQuery) could provide an alternative or at least instruction on how to fetch the files and load them locally
