despite not having an official +1 from dennis, i tried to commit this patch today. I have built it locally several times and max gave a +1. Unfortunately, more commits were done to o.j.t.common which invalidated my workspace. I will most likely have to re-do the work entirely since it is unclear how to merge tree conflicts in this situation.
