Mickael Istria commented on JBIDE-13232:

> The names here aren't better
> 4.2.0 of what ? Juno ? Why is it called devstudio then. Point is - the names are worse than before.

What do you suggest instead? Please suggest a name so our guess matches your expectations.

> and this change means new url location yet again before we even have sat down and worked out how targetplatforms can work.

So far, we didn't touch URLs since it would require too much change. I don't think we need to change existing URLs. But we may prefer follow new naming pattern for future URLs (4.2.0.d, 4.2.1.b maybe).

> Using several versions on both branch and master - still, why would that not be done in branches where you can merge and apply fixes via tools like git and make it easier to maintain ?

We'll for sure move that way, but currently we map branches with releases (internal and external). Target-Platforms don't follow the same per-release versioning and branching. 1 version of JBT is linked to several versions of target-platforms.
We need to find out a good way to achieve better branching and so far there was no use-case to guide us in such a move.

> .target files are all called "e42-wtp34-jbds6" even though they are for jbosstools and not specific to jbds6 either.
> Makes it hard to actually see which target platform to choose
