So you're saying this can't be fixed, right? Couldn't we somehow tell that the installer is run with java 7 on mac and display a warning, something like: You're running this installer with java 7. If you want to install 32-bit version of JBDS, you need to launch the installer using java 1.6. I'm just thinking about how to make it predictable for users - if they accidentally launch the installer using java 7, they will think they selected 32-bit and everything is fine, but then they will be surprised that JBDS is actually installed in 64-bit mode.

If we can't do anything, it should be at least explained in the getting started guide (or whichever explains the installation).
