Short story: The attached root4.css fixes the problem on both Mac and Ubuntu.

Long story:
On Mac, I could only reproduce the issue with the white stripe and it is fixed with the new css file - now scrolling is disabled so the white stripe is fixed at the bottom.

On Ubuntu, I confirmed the issue above is fixed and also the dotted line issue described by Vlado is fixed.

I didn't experience the issue with white window between clicking on a link and seeing the main eclipse UI. Actually I saw it once but it was due to delay before the UI was loaded. When I tried again it didn't happen.

I verified this on JBDS 5.0.0 Beta1 H88.
