On the Windows machine I normally run 1280x720 or 1920x1080, those are the defaults associated with a lot of "consumer-grade" Dell laptops these days - for HD movie watching.

I just switched the machine to 1280x1024 and it puts the back/forward buttons in the right location.  I will run with that resolution for a while.
